OUR PROJECTS

Clothing Assistance

Since 2021, AndRestore has organised school-wide clothing drives to collect and distribute clothing to children and families facing severe shortages. Twice a year—before the June cold season and again around Christmas—we invite primary school students to donate clean, gently used clothes they have outgrown.

Because the communities we support face shortages across all types of clothing, we collect everything from T-shirts and shorts to trousers, jackets and underwear. All donated clothing is carefully sorted, and donated underwear is thoroughly washed before distribution.

Clothing for Korr

Lightweight clothing, including T-shirts and shorts, is distributed to communities in Korr, Marsabit County. Located in a remote area near the Ethiopian border, Korr is difficult to reach, and many larger charities have limited involvement in the region.

AndRestore works through a missionary who has served alongside the Korr community for many years, helping us ensure that donated clothing reaches children who need it most. Many children in the area have extremely limited access to basic clothing, with some young girls relying on T-shirts without trousers or shoes, while some boys have little or no clothing at all.

By providing basic clothing, we hope to give children greater protection from the environment and the dignity of having clothes of their own.

Clothing for Amboseli

Our second collection focuses on warmer clothing for children in Amboseli, Kajiado County where communities also experience significant shortages of adequate clothing.

As temperatures drop during the colder months, jackets, sweaters, trousers and other warm clothing can provide children with much-needed protection from the cold. Through these seasonal collections, AndRestore aims to make sure that children are better equipped to face the conditions around them.

Founder’s Message

Collecting clothes was the first charity initiative I was able to start.

For as long as I can remember, my mother would donate the clothes that my brother and I had outgrown. Her example showed me that helping others does not always require something big.

When I was 11, I was inspired to bring that idea to my school. I began telling my friends about the clothing drive and encouraging them to donate their old clothes. What started as a small initiative has since grown into a twice-yearly project involving students from two primary schools.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped make the project what it is today. Every bag of clothing represents a small act of kindness that can make a meaningful difference.

Educational Empowerment

Since September 2023, AndRestore has supported students at Faith Primary School in Korr, Marsabit County, by providing essential stationery and textbooks at the beginning of each school term.

Faith Primary School is a charitable institution serving children aged 6 to 12, with classes typically consisting of 10 to 20 students. Twice a year, AndRestore contributes KSh 100,000 towards a back-to-school package for students. Each package includes a notebook, a set of pencils, an eraser and a ruler. We also provide textbooks for students to share, helping increase access to learning materials even when there are not enough books for every child to have their own.

By providing these basic learning materials, AndRestore aims to remove some of the barriers that students face and give them a stronger start to every school term. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn with the tools they need to succeed.

Founder’s Message

When I graduated from primary school and moved into Year 9, my dad took me out for dinner to celebrate. It was a simple celebration, but it made me realise that what felt ordinary to me was a privilege that many children in Kenya do not have. Although I could not personally ensure that every child in Kenya received an education, I wanted to do my part.

Before I went shopping for my own school supplies, I reached out to friends and family and raised funds to purchase stationery for students at Faith Primary School in Korr. With what we collected, I was initially able to provide supplies for just a few classes. Today, the initiative has grown, and AndRestore provides essential school supplies to every class at Faith Primary School twice a year.

Supporting Widows

Since September 2024, AndRestore has provided monthly financial support to widowed households in Korr, helping families meet their everyday needs. Each month, AndRestore sends KSh 3,000 directly to each of five households, providing consistent support for food and other essential expenses.

Rather than purchasing specific items for each household, AndRestore provides financial assistance directly to the families we support. This allows each household to decide how best to use the funds based on their needs at the time—whether that means buying food, household essentials, or meeting other urgent expenses.

For widowed mothers, providing for a family can bring significant financial and emotional pressure. They may suddenly have to manage household responsibilities and provide for their children without the income or support their spouse previously provided. In a community where many families have several children, these responsibilities can become particularly demanding.

The KSh 3,000 monthly contribution is intended to provide a consistent financial cushion, helping the five households supported by AndRestore meet their everyday needs.

Founder’s Message

Losing a loved one is difficult enough, but experiencing that loss while struggling to put food on the table can make an already painful time even more overwhelming. For many widows in Korr, the loss of a husband can also mean the loss of an important source of financial support, leaving them with little financial security to fall back on.

I started the Widow Support initiative because I wanted to show that making a difference does not require a large donation. As a high school student, I knew that many students want to help others but may feel that meaningful giving is beyond what they can afford.

The idea behind this programme is simple: three students can come together to support one widow, with each contributing KSh 1,000 a month. This makes giving manageable for students while providing a widow with consistent support each month. This programme shows that you do not have to be wealthy or wait until you are older to make a difference. Sometimes, a small contribution, given consistently, can provide meaningful support to someone who needs it.

Hunger Relief

Since September 2024, AndRestore has supported the distribution of emergency food packs to families facing food insecurity in Korr. During each dry season, AndRestore contributes KSh 200,000 towards emergency food aid, helping provide essential staples such as ugali flour (maize flour) to families in need.

Korr is an arid region where the harsh climate makes farming extremely difficult. Limited rainfall and severe water shortages mean that crops fail to grow, creating recurring periods of food insecurity. During particularly severe dry seasons, families can face prolonged shortages of food and water.

The missionary serving the Korr community has distributed emergency food aid for many years, but the need is often greater than what can be provided. Through fundraising campaigns, AndRestore helps fund a portion of the flour distributed to families during the most difficult periods of the year.

Founder’s Message

In 2024, I travelled to Korr as part of a dental mission, where I experienced the region’s extreme heat and arid conditions firsthand.

The land was dry, hard and cracked, with very little vegetation. The missionary explained that the climate is so dry that even mosquitoes struggle to survive. It was immediately clear to me why farming is so difficult. Many families rely on livestock, particularly goats, and must walk long distances to collect water.

During the dry season, however, even livestock can struggle to find enough food. Wells may run dry, and there can be little or no vegetation left for animals to graze on. For families who already have limited resources, these periods can be devastating.

After returning home, I launched a fundraising campaign to help provide emergency food supplies ahead of the next dry season. Since then, AndRestore has continued to contribute towards food distribution whenever the need is greatest.
